What Is X: All About the New Twitter Changes

Welcome to “X.”

Twitter has undergone a transformation with a new logo and domain. And that’s just the start.

So what happens next?

That’s what we’re going to break down in this blog post. We’ll take a deep dive into the exciting changes and explore Elon Musk’s vision for the “Everything App.”

What is X?

If you logged into Twitter recently, you might have noticed a significant change – a sleek black-and-white “X” has replaced the iconic blue and white bird logo. Twitter has rebranded to X. The new branding is currently rolling out to users.

This is not just a cosmetic change. It signals a big shift in the platform’s identity. The new logo is a reflection of Elon Musk’s vision for Twitter. He wants the platform to be more than just a social media site. The goal is to create an “everything app” that people can use for everything from communication to commerce.

The Arrival of X: The Twitter Changes

First, let’s review what’s happened already. X has already introduced several new features that will redefine the Twitter experience:

Dark Mode

The X app will have a default dark color mode with a black background. Users can switch to white mode if they prefer. This is a popular feature on other social media platforms, so it’s no surprise that it’s been added to Twitter.

Video Live Streaming

X will soon allow users to engage in live video streaming. This is a major change and opens up the platform to a whole new range of possibilities. The platform could be a rival to YouTube and Twitch. For example, Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently launched a new show on the platform.

Eligible Creator Revenue Share

Creators across the globe will be able to access revenue-sharing opportunities. Elon Musk pledged $5 million for the first round of creator payments. This change shows the ambition to take on YouTube as the primary platform for creators. It could help to attract more creators to the platform and upgrade the quality and quantity of content for users to consume.

Enhanced Scam and Phishing Reporting

X will offer an easy-to-use reporting feature to protect users against fraud and scams. This is an important change. Scams and phishing attacks are a growing problem on social media, so it’s good to see X is taking steps to address the issue.

Shadowban Transparency

Protecting free speech is at the heart of the new X brand. Since Musk’s take over, the platform has operated with a “freedom of speech, not freedom of reach” policy. Users are free to express themselves, but their tweets may not be seen by as many people if they are deemed to be spammy or offensive.

X will increase the transparency around shadowbans. It will provide details about bans and possible solutions directly on user profiles.

Speculation on the Future of X

Twitter is evolving into X – the “everything app.”

So what does that involve?

CEO Linda Yaccarino has provided some insights into the vision. It will become much more than just a social media platform.

Let’s break down what that statement means:

Audio, Video, and Messaging

X is expected to integrate audio, video, and messaging capabilities, creating a multi-functional platform. This would allow users to have video calls, send voice messages, and create group chats. It would make X a more versatile platform and could attract new users.

Marketplace for Goods and Services

X will be a marketplace for goods and services. Musk has long admired WeChat, the Chinese super-app. If X heads in that direction, you’ll be able to do everything from booking flights and ordering taxis to getting food delivered and watching movies and TV.  X would be a one-stop shop for everything users need.

Global Financial System

The recent licensing of Twitter Payments in multiple US states has sparked discussions about X and the payment industry. In a recent interview, Elon Musk stated that X could power half of the global financial system. It’s a bold claim, but it’s possible that X could become a major player in the payment industry. X could be used to make payments for goods and services and to send and receive money.

Doge and X

Elon Musk recently added the Dogecoin symbol to his bio along with the X logo. This has led to speculation about Dogecoin’s role on X. Could the crypto coin become the official X currency?

It’s possible, but it’s too early to say for sure. Musk is clearly a fan of Dogecoin, so it’s not out of the question that it could play a role on X.

The Future of Social

Elon Musk’s vision for an “everything app” is gradually becoming a reality. It could revolutionize how we interact online and redefine the social media platform.

Becoming a super-app like WeChat won’t be easy. There are already established players offering the services X will provide.

But, with Elon Musk’s innovative vision, X can potentially disrupt the game.

We’re all witnesses to the unfolding journey.
